Forest Café

At the Forest Café you can find local food, Lappish flavours, delicacies from Finnish nature and picnic dishes that you can prepare yourself on the campfire. Sit down in a warm and cosy laavu to enjoy delicious outdoor food, rest on hammocks or in a yurt and explore the forest.

In the Forest Café you can spend time easily, relaxing and resting in nature

The Forest café serves as a resting place, a community space and an excursion destination for hikers in the area. We are open all year round once a month on a Saturday. You can also find our opening hours on Facebook, Instagram or events page.

The café can be reached from the Kivalo hiking trail or along our driveway. If you arrive by car you can park in the parking lot of the hiking trail Kivalontie 1698 94500 Keminmaa or our yard Kivalontie 1650 94500 Keminmaa. The best way to find the address is to select Sointumetsä in the map application. In winter, there is also access to the Kivalo hiking trail (Lautiosaari-Puukkokumpu) see more information at https://www.infogis.fi/keminmaa/. When there is enough snow (January-April), we keep open a 1.5 km long forest trail in the Sointumetsän area, which climbs up to the Kaljupää-Helkkunen hill.

In the café area there is a warm laavu and a fireplace, a covered dining table, with seating for a total of about 35 people. In addition, there is standing room for about 10 people. Two small fire pits provide seating for a total of eight people. The campsite is equipped with warm seating, sheepskins, blankets and cushions. The café offers seasonal activities such as drawing/painting equipment, nature games, magnifying glasses and nature books. The café area also has lovely year-round nap spots in hammocks, woods or yurts.
