At the forest café you will find local food, Lapland flavours, gifts of nature and trail meals that you can prepare yourself over a campfire. Sit down at the warm and atmospheric lean-to to enjoy delicious trail snacks, rest in the hammocks or in the yurt, and explore the forest.

Easy hiking, relaxation and being together

The Forest café serves as a resting place, a community space and an excursion destination for hikers in the area. We are open all year round once a month on a Saturday. You can also find our opening hours on Facebook, Instagram or events page.

The café can be reached from the Kivalo hiking trail or along our driveway. If you arrive by car you can park in the parking lot of the hiking trail Kivalontie 1698 94500 Keminmaa or our yard Kivalontie 1650 94500 Keminmaa. The best way to find the address is to select Sointumetsä in the map application. In winter, there is also access to the Kivalo hiking trail (Lautiosaari-Puukkokumpu) see more information at https://www.infogis.fi/keminmaa/. When there is enough snow (January-April), we keep a 1.5 km long forest trail open in the Sointumetsäarea, which ascends to the top of Kaljupää-Helkkunen fell (the trail will be available again in winter 2027).

The café area features a heated shelter and a campfire site, as well as a covered dining table, providing seating for a total of around 40 people. There is also standing room for around 10 people. The three smaller campfire sites offer seating for a total of 12 people. Laavu provides warm seat pads, sheepskins, blankets and cushions. The café offers fun activities for children, such as drawing and painting materials, nature games, magnifying glasses, picnic equipment and nature books. The café area also offers lovely spots for a nap, with hammocks and a yurt.
